skateistan
A video campaign that uses skateboarding to create safe spaces for children around the world

problem
After months of lockdowns, closed doors, and uncertainty, Skateistan's young skaters lost more than their routines. They lost connection, confidence, and a sense of belonging. For an organization that builds safe spaces for marginalized children, reopening the skate parks was only the first step. The real challenge was telling that story with enough heart to inspire donors to help bring children back and to rebuild trust, friendship, and hope along the way.
solution
As Communications Assistant, I collaborated on the video campaign for "Back on Board," Skateistan's drive to raise $125,000 and bring children back to the skate park. We showed skateboarding as healing in motion: every push rebuilds trust, every shared ride rebuilds community, and every fall teaches resilience. Using video, motion, and digital design in Adobe Creative Cloud (After Effects, Premiere Pro), our visuals helped supporters see they were funding more than classes. They were helping children reclaim hope.
After months of isolation, closed doors, and uncertainty, the return to the skate park became more than a reopening; it became a reunion. Skateistan’s "Back on Board" campaign aimed at raising $125,000 to restore what children lost during lockdowns: connection, confidence, and a sense of belonging.
The video campaign I collaborated on with Skateistan reflects this journey, showing that skateboarding is not just movement, but healing in motion. Every push forward rebuilds trust, every shared ride rebuilds community, and every fall becomes a lesson in resilience. By supporting the campaign, we were not simply funding classes; we were helping young people reclaim routine, friendship, and hope after a long pause in their world.
